Saturn Essay -- Solar System Planets Saturn Astronomy Essays

SaturnSaturn is one of the or so interesting major planets in the solar body. It is the sixth planet in the solar system, and is most famous for its stunning array of rings. It is a very easy planet to pick out in the sky because it is one of the brightest lights in the shy. It also has a very faint greenish color that makes it stand out from the rest of the objects in the sky (Astronomy for Kids). Saturn is the second largest planet in the solar system, Jupiter be the only planet that is bigger. It also has at least eighteen moons, more than any other planet in the solar system. There have been tether voyages to this extraordinary planet, and one is still in process today. The lead up II traveled to Saturn in September of 1979, the Voyager missions took place in the 1980s and the Cassini probe began its voyage in October of 1997 (Kuhn 280-282). There are many aspects of Saturn that make it one of the most extraordinary planets in this solar system.Galileo Galilei was th e first to view Saturns system of rings in the year 1610. Because he happened to be viewing their edge, he failed to recognize them as rings. In fact, he mistakenly interpreted the rings to be two moons similar to those he had discovered near the planet Jupiter. In 1655, a Dutch astronomer named Christiaan Huygens was able to discern what Galileo had thought to be moons as rings. Huygens benefited from a much improved telescope than that used by Galileo. A second moon of Saturn called Iapetus was found by the Italian astronomer Cassini in 1671. He also discovered, in 1675, that Saturn had more than one ring, i.e. a concentric pair of rings. A third ring was discovered by Johann Franz Encke in 1837 using a telescope at the Berlin observatory. Until Pioneer II approached Saturn in September of 1979, the planet was thought to have but three rings (Yenne 125). Saturn is the sixth planet in the solar system, located between Jupiter and Uranus. Its average distance from t he Sun is over 850 million miles, compared to Earths which is 93 million miles. Saturns orbit, the path it follows rough the Sun, is nearly a circle. The closest the planet has come to the Sun is around 840 million miles, while the furthest apart it gets is 930 million miles. Since Saturn is so far away from the Sun, it takes a very long time for it to complete its orbit of the Sun. Sa... ... and its moons in August 1981. The Cassini probe is exploring many of Saturns characteristics from its icy rings to the magnetic field, which is a very ambitious mission. The mission also entails the first decent of a probe to a moon of another planet - the most distant set down ever attempted on another object in the solar system (Great Space Place). These discoveries and close-ups of the exquisite characteristics of Saturn are what make this planet the most interesting and amazing of the solar system. Sustainability includes some(prenominal) sustainable development and corporate sustainability. When sustainable development and corporate sustainability are respectd in a company, it aligns the views of various stakeholders, which can lead to financial success. In the past, sustainability was not valued, primarily because of a lack of knowledge and an aversion to the costs of sustainability reporting. However, with increased consumer awareness and the promotion of environmental and social value, more companies are abject towards a state of sustainability. In Canada there has been some adoption of sustainable development. Regulating bodies and third party evaluators have implemented systems to promote a twofold bottom line in corporations. TELUS Corporation is an example of a company that is focused on sustainable development. Their vision, policies, and practices all display the companys die hard for the community, the environment, and the shareholders. While there are still barriers to the adoption of sustainable practices, the market will naturally shift towards a state of corporate sustainability through sustainable development. Assignment 1IntroductionIn the business world, there are four forces of change. These are innovation, customer focus, globalization, and sustainability. Innovation involves technological and non-technological advances that create new value for a company. Customer focus entails directing an organizations efforts towards increasing the value given to customers as opposed to the value kept in the organization. globalization has lead to integrated markets and has exposed businesses to new risks, much(prenominal) as pol... ...).ConclusionIt is evident that sustainability is becoming a strong force in the business world. environmental issues, such as greenhouse gas emissions, and corporate social responsibility are becoming inc reasingly important to internal and external stakeholders. Companies can no longer focus solely on financial measures, but must incorporate the triple bottom line into their performance metrics. This will give a company a long-term focus that supports future growth and profitability through sustainable development.Adoption of sustainable initiatives is varied in the market. While companies such as TELUS Corporation can be labeled as a sustaining corporation, others remain in a state of non-responsiveness or compliance due mainly to costs. However, as environmental and social awareness increases, the market will naturally progress towards a sustainable state.

Presentation of the Principles of Science in the Movie Armageddon Essay

People have successfully created an advance and modern approach path of imparting to students the principles of and topics relating to science or physics laws. What used to be a general learning course of study present in every plan of almost all school facilities was made into an exciting and entertaining education. This is attributed to the fact that the fresh approach utilizes films or icons to present and make students internalize and grasp scientific concepts in depth. This is striked by studying and connecting every scene of a movie with the pieces of information derived from the important science or physics laws. By making students get by and understand the effects of movie scenes and relating them to reality aroused the curiosity of students who normally regarded the subject as too difficult and dull when taught in the conventional manner. Ultimately, the initiation and use of the principles of science or physics in a movie have created more options for instructors to bo ost the improvement and benefits of the course to the studies of students and to the society in general. The 1998 smash hit movie Armageddon top-billed by Bruce Willis (Harry Stamper), in particular, tells of a large and uncontrolled star-shaped as large as Texas, which is bound to collide with our planet in 18 days. Harry, with his group of oil well drillers, is sent to space under a mission to stop this catastrophe from happening and prevent the destruction of the planet and mankind. To achieve this, they have to destroy the angulate with a powerful nuclear bomb by placing it inside the asteroid (Bruckheimer & Bay, 1998).From the perspective of physical science, it is actually during the drilling scenes of the movie that the principles of science and physics law are likewise being laid out. This explains the logic behind the showing of the horizontal speed and increased velocities of the asteroid, which was blown-up into pieces by the nuclear bomb. These deuce scientific conditio ns are actually aimed at showing how a powerful nuclear bomb can greatly destroy the asteroid at that intense speed and resulting its pieces in just avoiding the planet and eventually forbidding a tragic end.A scientific analysis of this condition creates an exposure that the movie scenes have effectively presented the use of energy and momentum preservation, addition of vector, as well as the law of gravity. Moreover, the formula and calculations used by the characters in the movie provide an apparent introduction to the students of the principle of devising fair or sensible calculations or approximations. One particular example is the use of the asteroid and making it appear that its size is the same as that of Texas (Bruckheimer & Bay, 1998).With this variable, it is assumed that Texas is a square size the surface area of which is equivalent to this U. S. state. Subsequently, the asteroids fig is estimated to be a cube, with each side equivalent to the surface area of the cited state. Therefore, the total mass or physical measure of the asteroid can and then be adequately estimated by multiplying the amount of the cube by the normal density or concentration of the planet Earth. Thus, the nuclear bomb employed to cancel the asteroid which is equal to at least 100,000 bombs that were dropped in Hiroshima during World War II gave an estimate of the energy needed by Harry and his team to slabber out the heroic task. Further presumption that all of the said energy turned into a kinetic energy separated equally between the two parts of the asteroid, would tell us that the length of the portions of the asteroid can be calculated. Results of the computation conclude that the direction where they are heading would turn perpendicular to its prime route of motion by the time they impact the planet. This could be possible when the energy required to blow up and separate the asteroid into two is ignored. The deflexion for each asteroid piece is only a little over 2 00 meters. This will lead to the scenario that a two half-Texas-size, rather than only a Texas-sized asteroid, will reach and destroy the planet. This concept of physics was what Armageddon effectively presented. This explains why it is practically understandable for the United States, or any nation for that matter, to discover and postdate the movements of any object in the space that is likely to hit the planet or come near its crossing orbits.Armageddon was able to present that the principles of science or physics laws are beneficial to society. This is because the movie succeeded in realizing the purpose of increasing awareness on the said field of study among students. The movie also prove that recognizing the wonders of science can be breathtaking and satisfying especially when presented in the context of an entertaining film such as Armageddon. High School Goals Essay

High School to some is the best single-valued function of their lives and to others is the worst part of their life. As for me I believe high school is just about setting goals and achieving them. Personally, I set up three important and motivating hitherto perceivable individual goals to get me through high school. My First Goal is to not miss more than two days of school in the replete(p) school year. My second goal is to finish my high school occupational group with the 26 credits that I am required if not maybe more. in the long run my third high school goal I plan to end high school with a 3.8 Grade Point Average.I believe attention is essential to a student understanding and success over all in school. This is my first goal. Attending school on a constant base not only does great for your grades but also without you even noticing it builds in you a strong work ethic and discipline. The best part about attention school regularly is that you make awesome friends while your there. My second high school goal is to finish high school with my required 26 credits. This is very(prenominal) important to me because if I do not have these 26 credits I will not be able to go on to college. at once many students take this for granted and just dont keep track about their grades. When it comes time to graduate and they cant graduate with their piers its not tone ending to be so funny. If you dont have enough credits to graduate and you find out I time. You can still fix the line by just simply going to night school or take extra classes at your school. My third goal is the most important. Thats why I saved it for last. I have to maintain a Grade Point Average of a 3.8 or higher. This is very important to my future. This number is basically what makes or breaks you in a college application (aside from your S.A.T. scores). Having a good grade point average is critical in every students c areer as it opens doors for you with scholarships, grants, etc.In Conclusion , I believe that high school can be a very rewarding time for every unfledged adult if managed properly. Remember to set tangible andmanageable goals for yourself. It is highly important for you not to set up goals that are out of your reach because when you do that. You are setting yourself up for disaster and failure.

Evgeny Morozov Essay

Evgeny Morozovs article, Technologys Role in Revolution, was very attention-grabbing. Evgeny argued that many revolutions throughout history do not transpire through internet and technology, but in effect, argon shaped by cultural factors. His term, cyber-utopianism, suggests that online interaction between individuals is emancipatory, and that the internet favours the oppressed, rather than the oppressor. He makes evident, that this belief is nieve and stubborn because it refuses to hump its consequences. Evgeny argues against the certain ideas of what he refers to as internet centrism, and cyber-utopianism, and indeed points out that there is a dark side to internet freedom.Within Evgenys article, there are many points he makes that definitely articulate cyber-utopianism, and its affect on many populations. Evgeny explains the role of internet in the middle- eastern revolutions. He suggests that, concourse in the middle-east practically brag about documenting police brutality, but is not what they should be foc development on. He argues that they should focus on how radical leaders will shape the new constitution, and how to deal with issues regarding previous regimes. Morozov believes that the middle-east can obtain successful democracy, but depending on how they can react, and work on existing problems.Evgeny implies that regimes would be a lot less(prenominal) hectic if it werent for the internet. He claims, if it the internet wasnt around, they could pay off taken a opposite route in making decisions, could perplex been less violent, and decisions could have been made months earlier than they did. He explains how in Russia, kids were cosmos so distracted by other websites that, for a short while, government had put up censorships so multitude would be less distracted. He believes that the most successful way of controlling the internet, isnt one that has the most sophisticated censorship, but one that doesnt need a one at all. In addition, Evgen y suggested that it is nieve to believe that something as complex and sophisticated as the internet, could create exactly the same outcomes. In conclusion, he creates an unpretentious approach of dealing with policy making Cyber-realism.Cyber-realists are people that make the internet a method for achieving specific policy objectives, rather than, people who only focus on the internets philosophical impact as a whole. Evgeny makes some remarkable points, and although I think he close to dramatizes the forbid impacts internet has on the utilitarian states, he still manages to convince me of his argument. For instance, I too, believe that internet is credited for some negative things such as countries having lacked enlightenment in the topic of political decisions, being a distraction rather than a source of information, and finally, giving the government a disloyal reputation. 1Evgeny suggests that certain countries do not have the ability to be notified of political suggestions onl ine, because computers are not available to them. A relatable example he expresses is that, Fidel Castro has a cheep page, but people in Cuba, do not have computers, let alone twitter. In Italy, for example, only three hundred and sixty seven people have computers, out of one thousand people. Thats less than half of the population that would not be well informed. In addition, in places such as Russia, internet isnt a system intended to gain information, but rather, a search engine utilized for personal enjoyment.Internet is often a way of keeping kids away from politics because they become far to distracted on other sites, such as RuTube, to focus on government issues. I agree this is a negative effect, because if kids are uninformed, their kids will be uninformed, and the pattern of using internet for personal use will take its toll on future generations. Other countries, such as North Korea and Belarus, lack the ability to be technologically caught up in society. Evgeny mentions, I wouldnt have oftentimes hope in the internet in North Korea. Its a country with some of the fewest internet connections in the world, and average North Koreans have been brainwashed to such an extent that you have serious psychological challenges that you cant overcome just by using blogs and twitter. This expresses the internet as being an unfair advantage to certain countries that are not as technologically advanced. Additionally, internet is giving the government a bad reputation for two different reasons.First off, Evgeny states that bloggers publishing about dishonesty in local governments, are easily co-opted by higher politicians, and are turned against what they were blogging about. In this case, bloggers are dead being shut down, in that the power of the governmentis less on local authorities, but on the federal government. This demonstrates the government being disloyal to the people, and using a pessimistic way of controlling the local population, which in turn, can certainly lead to trust issues between the two. Secondly, the government will frequently micturate out to citizens for their opinion, but it doesnt necessarily mean that they are listening to what the citizens have to say. 2Evgeny suggests that governments pretend to reach out to obtain citizens input, but in reality, it is only a way of making them seem legitimate. The problem with this is that it causes the government to lose power, in that, they can no longer be trusted by the people, therefore the people will slowly stop publicizing their input.Another topic he could have reached upon would be that, because internet is so traceable, some negative things that might have gone viral will always be traced back to you. When bloggers write anti-government information, they are giving out their location, and can easily be tracked by local policemen. Overall I think that Evgeny truly convinced me of his argument because he had some very valid ideas, and as he pointed out, there are ple nty of reasons people blame internet for the negative effects it has on the revolution.

Pro Life vs Pro Choice Essay

Pro Life people that believe that for example a foetus is a human being and miscarriage should be considered murder vs. Pro prize people that for example believe its up to them and no one else a reconcile that has been a sensitive moral issue for people through out the entire world. The issue we currently have in hand is should abortion be allowed or non and why or why not. This issue should be looked at very cargonfully because it does not just effect one someone it affects other peoples lives as well. There are many utilitarians or should we call them people that are Pro Choice out there in this world that believe that when an issue comes about, the issue when handled should offer the most positive out come not only for oneself simply for others as well. When women take the time and make sure that squeezeting an abortion is the best thing to do, some of the reasons they are considering or should be considered is am I ready to be a mom if the conclusion is you are not ready to become a mom it could be because of what is currently firing on in your life. For example, if its you still are in school and would like to continue your education. A very important reason one to be considered the highest is not having a supportive boyfriend or husband, you pott do it by yourself. Some will say that they cannot afford a child at this point and time. How will you be able to feed, cloth, and shelter your child with out the necessary means? Another thing that must be considered is will the get down or child be able to survive the birth. If there is a guarantee then there should be no questions asked, if the mother wants to have an abortion then it is her right to make that decision, if she knows she could possibly die from giving birth, and she is not allowed an abortion wouldnt that be considered suicide or murder. Judith Jarvis Thomson states, I think that the supposition is false, that the fetus is not a somebody from the moment of conception. A newly fertilize d ovum, a newly implanted clump of cells, is no more a person than an acorn is an oak tree. But I shall not discuss any of this. For it seems to me to be of great interest to ask what happens if, for the sake of argument, we allow the premise. How, precisely, are we supposed to get from there to the conclusion that abortion is morally impermissible (Thomson). On the other hand people that are Pro Life will argue the particular that fetuses are human beings and it is morally wrong to take their life from them, they say that it is against god or any higher power but that argument can be considered a little flakey, that seems like they are telling you to be a religious person, with the possibility of so many complications it is extremely unsafe on the mothers end, there is always the option to put your child up for adoption, you should know and or trust that the state will put your infant in a good family. No society will allow any human to intentionally harm or take the life of anothe r human being without any form of punishment, and abortion should be considered no different. Doctors and nurses promised to save our lives, not destroy them. Don Marquis of the University of Kansas asks a different question Do we have the same reasons not to kill a fetus that we have not to kill an adult? killing adults he says, is wrong because it deprives them of their future. But in Killing a fetus, we are also depriving it of its future. Thus, it seems inconsistent to object one but not the other. (Marquis)We all know that there are always going to be arguments on abortion being right or wrong. Each side both has value able points that they bring up in discussion. chastely its hard to say, you can always give your opinion but it ultimately its on a personal level and no one elses beliefs should be forced upon you. I personally believe that it should be allowed. There are more positive reasons why it should be allowed. In my opinion some of those reasons are if you know your c hild will be ill and not be able to take care of him or herself at all, if there is a stake the mother or child wont be able to survive the birth. However, I do not believe that only one side should be taken, it is wrong to kill a human being no matter what state they are in his or her life. If abortion was to be socially original then there might be safer ways to come about, or more people would want to adopt which would make it a derive win for all. But what it really boils down to is its up to the mother and no one else, its her body, and her child and it should ultimately be up to her.

Actually, this was my birth date, but my importr was born in my first academic years. Everyone has a releaser inside him that starts small and weak then grows big and strong. In kindergarten, I first learned how to create verbally the English alphabets. The idea was to trace the alphabets until we k instantly how to draw them. In grade one, the English teacher utilize to give us handwriting workbook to practice writing and improve the looking of our words. Thes e workbooks employ written examples. Under these examples, we should trace these words, and under the tracing, there was two lines for copying the sentences. In addition, teachers taught us how to write our names in both Arabic and English. From grade 3 to 5, were introduced to the idea of spelling tests and dictation. The procedure was that the teacher gives us a list of words to practice on. Then on the test day, she/he examines us on these words. Sometimes it is a paragraph instead of independent words. At first, I got average marks, and then I amend a lot. I remember that when I got some words spelled wrong, I was punished to write that word tens of times. It was annoying at that stage but now I realized that it was so beneficial for me. It made me have less spelling mistake onward. In grade 5, I started the real writing. I started to write short paragraphs and connect them, in order to make a good essay. In grade 6, we learned how to write narrative essays and stories. I rememb er that I had nearly the same events when I wrote stories. It was all about going to a place with my family and not following my uncles rules, which lead to problems and dangers for us. At the end of my story, I used to put somehow an advice to follow the rules and not be reckless.I started to write independent texts away from school starting from grade 7. At that year, I started to write my own diaries. I record what happened in my day and what experience I learned. The idea came to me when I was watching a cartoon and I saw that a character is writing diaries. He was looking after his diary always and take care of it. He influenced me to try that type of writing, but unfortunately, that did not final for a long time.In grades 8 and 9 we went in more serious types of writing. I learned how to write a persuasive essay for convince people. I remember that one of the subjects to write about was why we should change the food in the schools canteen. Then in grade 11, we were taught ho w to analyze both novels and movies. We used to extract the theme and the timeline in addition to vocabulary analysis. In my final high school year, argumentative essay was our assigned type of writing. One division we studied in this field was whether spending a lot of money in space researches is beneficial or not. Some people say yes and the new(prenominal) say no, because other people can actually benefit from this wasted money including poor families. Also in 2017, I started to write both orchis and informal email messages. It was a new way of writing. The year next I was learning the way of writing essays for English proficiency tests. Now in the time being I am learning how to write a secondary research paper by using data from reliable sources. In conclusion, everyone has a writer inside him that he should improve and work on. As you read, my writer was born when I was in my early academic stage and gloss over working on it now. My real start was in grade 4 to 7. Then I we nt to a stage that is more serious from grade 8 to freshman year of university. I will try my best to learn from other experts and improve until I get the mastery level.

I always try to put 100 percent to everything I do.Reflective EssayA broody ESSAY This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best tolerants outcome. Reflection is an everyday process and is very individualised matter. Jasper (2003) suggests that saying is one of the key ways in which we can learn from our experiences. Reflective practice can be defined as process of making sense of events, moorings and actions that occur in the workplace (Oelofsen, 2012). There are a different deterrent examples of reproach. One of them is Johns (1994) pretending of observation, this model is based on quintuple cue questions definition, look, influencing factors, substitute strategies and learning. That enable practitioner to chip down his/her experience. Gibbs (1988) is another common model of reflexion which consists of six stages description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan. The structure allows the observation to be written in a clear way. In conformism with the NMC (2008) code of nonrecreational conduct, cocksureiality should be maintain and all na mes will be anonymous.Ii this essay I will use Gibbs (1988) model as a guide for my reflection. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection requires a description of event. On the beginning of one of my shifts, my mentor informed me that I can participate in Multidisciplinary Team admiting. A Multidisciplinary Team meeting is a meeting of the meetinging of professions from one or more clinical disciplines who together make decision regarding recommended treatment of individual unhurrieds (NHS 2012). I work on the ward on which these meetings are held every day.On that day the meeting was attended by medical examination doctors, delegate sister, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, discharge coordinator, social worker and community nurse. Order of the meeting was as follows at the low gear a brief description of the patient was given by deputy sister. consequently one of the doctors presented the patient current medical plaza. At the end the other members of the aggroup have time to take voice. They discussed medical and social situation of each individual patient. The team focused on planning and reviewing patients goals, they also made a joint decision about discharge plans and destinations.I was given the opportunity to chance upon multidisciplinary team members working together and participated in the discussion about patients whom I took care of. The second stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection is a discussion about my thoughts and feelings. My feelings at the time were mixed. I felt grateful and accepted within the MDT meeting. Many of the skippers who took part in the meeting,I knew from my unremarkable work, and this made me feel comfortable. The MDT listened to my opinion and asked further questions. I always thought of myself as a confident person. However, when I stood and spoke in foregoing of more commensurate people then myself, my assertion vanished. I had no experience in speech in apparent motion of large grou p and I was very nervous. For this reason my speech was not always consistent. In such a case, my mentor support me and helped me by asking additional question that lead me to the right way. I found it very raise to see how MDT cooperate and communicate well with each other . I am going to enter the third stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection which is evaluation. There are many affirmative aspects of the MDT meeting. One of them is that the health professionals of different specialities are working as a team to achieve the same goals. The team members have different skills and knowledge. Their roles and responsibilities vary and are based on their professional experience. Thurgood et al. (2011) suggests that this skill mix is one of the most important gains of working in MDT. Works in a team allows to collect informations from all its members which ensures that no important information about the patient will be ignored or missed.Another big advantage of these meetings is that they are carried out every day. According to Whyte et al. ((2007) the most much team members meet face to face and have the chance to discuss issues and work together, the better discourse will be. However, if effective conference among the team is not achieved, errors may occur. It is the major disadvantages of the MDT. The National Patient galosh Agency (2007) communication difficulties identified as a main factor influencing patient outcomes.Stage four of Gibbs(1988) model is an analysis of the event. colloquy is defined as a process that involves a meaningful exchange betwixt at least two people to beat facts, needs, opinions, thoughts, feelings or other information through some(prenominal) verbal and non-verbal means, including face to face exchanges and the written word (DH 2010). For the MDT is important to effectively communicate with each other and overcome all communication barriers that may burn down because poor communication among health professionals can negat ively impact patient care.Atmosphere during the meeting was friendly and thank to this that all team members knew each other from daily meetings effective communication was easily achieved. However, there was a few problems. A noticeable issue was that medical abbreviation used by the doctor were not understood by others members of the team. This led to interruption of his speech to find out about their mining. This is mainly related to the fact that different health care workers have different training and education. Another factor who had fundamental act upon on the MDT meeting and extended it was partially not updated handover from earlier shift. The team had to correct the informations contained in it. In this case the handover missed its intended project because it was originally knowing to transfer information concerning an individual patient with outstanding task from the outgoing to the debut teams (Farhan et al. 2012). I think that I did well by participating in this m eeting. As a student but also as a depend line worker I could learn a lot from other professionals and I was able to inform the members of the team about the patients, whom I looked after, progress. This is important because as a front line worker I interact more with patients during their hospital stay then any other health professional in the MDT ( Hamilton, Martin, 2007). If I had not given my opinion on the patients care, they could not benefit from the MDT as much as they did. Conclusion is the fifth stage of Gibbs (1988) cycle. The MDT give me the opportunity to work closely with other health professionals and better understanding their roles. I could clearly see that effective communication encourages collaboration, help prevent errors and can influence the success or failure of the patient care and treatment. This experience helped me to learn the importance of sharing of skills and professional experience with others for the benefit of patient outcomes. This will help me to work effectively with others team members in the future. This situation showed me straights and weaknesses in my communication skills. As communication is a key edifice the relationship with others I need to continuously develop this knowledge. I also realized that speaking in front of large group of people is hard for me and this is the area which I have to improve. The final stage of Gibbs(1988) model of reflection is action plan.If I find myself in this type of situation again I would be more confident in discussing about the patients and their needs. communicating is a skill that can be learned and continually supplement (Webb, 2011). For this purpose I created an action plan that will help me to amend my this skills and gain self-confidence. The first purpose in my action plan is to meet my mentor in order to discuses the whole situation and obtain feedback. The next point is to research further the appropriate literature to gain new informations and develop my knowledge.I also want to attend a conflict consequence study day to learn how to resolve conflicts. Communication with others can be challenging (Webb, 2011) and conflicts may formulate at any time, not only betwixt team members but also between health professionals and patients or their families. Summarizing, reflection on this experience allowed me to key gaps in my knowledge and establish my own learning needs. Gibbs (1988) model of reflection given me the chance to explore my thoughts and feelings, analyse the situation and draw conclusion for the future. This essay also enabled me to unite theory and practice.Reflective EssayKatrina Wright Reflective Paper February 27, 2010 PDC-111 Discovering Yourself The topic Discovering Yourself was about the many different learning styles. In journal entry 16, I was instructed to look back on a time I had difficulties taking a test. In journal entry 18, I was instructed to make a list of excuses I make to avoid taking a test. From the chapter Tests I gaine d knowledge about how to become a better test taker. This topic was beneficial because I feel it entailed valuable information that is important for now and in the future. I learned that the key to mastering a test is study, study, study. I also was taught that if you are relaxed you retain text quickly and remember it more accurately. Furthermore, I learned to use mnemonic devices to remember things. This topic means a lot to me because it is important in everyday life. In my opinion, Tests will help me in college because it has taught me how to do well on test, which will improve my grades. I can apply the knowledge I gained from this chapters assignments to work and school.I can apply what I learned about being relaxed to work. For example, if I were given an assessment at work about what was covered at training I would know to be calm so I could recall events the events at training. I can also apply mnemonic devices to work. For instance, if I was a grade school teacher I could u se the mnemonic device Roy G. Biv to help children learn their colors. I can utilize mnemonic devices in school while taking a math test. I would use PEMDAS. (Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally) to remember the order of operations. Time The topic Time is about how to stop procrastination, organizing time, and managing time.It is also about how to use a long-term planner. My favorite assignments that I completed in this chapter were journal entry 8 and critical thinking exercise 14. Journal entry 8 instructed me to think about a time I waited until the last minute to complete an assignment and the repercussions of procrastination. Critical thinking 14 directed me to complete a planner for a whole weeks activity. From the chapter Time I gained knowledge on how to spend time productively. This chapter taught me not to procrastinate and to plan for future. This chapter was beneficial to me it had important information about how to use time. Time means a lot to me because it taught me not to let life pass me by. I feel this chapter will help me succeed in college because it showed me the importance of planning, which will make planning to complete assignments easier. I can apply the knowledge I gained from this chapters assignments to work and school. I can apply not procrastination to school. For example, if I were given an assignment two weeks before it was due I would do it in advance to ensure quality. I can also apply not procrastinating to work. For instance, if I wanted to become a police officer I would start getting in shape now to do well on the physical health test.Reflective EssayBy ensuring that we have a clear understanding of what we ant to achieve and how we will measure the success of the change (Implementation, 2011, p. 1). The steps for implementing a policy. Plan Planning involves detailed research about what the policy is to accomplish and achieve. This happens on both the legislative side by creating a law that has beneficial and desired outcome s and on the organizational side by planning the responses the organization will make that are directly related to the policy.Having a solid understanding and a good plan in place is the first step for implementing a policy. Do The Do step of PADS involves design a plan to implement the policy into action. One key point is addressing the behaviors of the people who are likely to hold back or move away from the new policy and address them directly. There are always transformation, transition, and development stages to work through as part of the Do stage. Study In the study phase the results of the Do stage will be analyzed and measured for surprises, failures, successes, and consequences. In the study phase it is good to review the results and compare them to the predicted outcomes and establish modifications that will make the policy better from what was learned. Act In the Act stage you will take the information and data collected from the first three stages and make the appropriat e changes. The policy may just need to be adapted with slight modifications. The policy may need to be adopted and changes made within the organization. The policy may need to be abandoned, completely changes and the PADS cycle started again. Role of major stakeholders in the process. The role of stakeholders is to participate in discussion that prioritize and describe the policy and how it is intended to be implemented. What can cause a policy to fail? A committee assignment can cause a policy to fail. If the committee has a Chair that does not support the policy then it is likely to fail because it will not be put near the top of the agenda.Reflective EssayA REFLECTIVE ESSAY This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. The aim of this essay is to explore how members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) worked together and communicate with each other to achieve the best patients outcome. Reflection is an everyday process and is very personal mat ter. Jasper (2003) suggests that reflection is one of the key ways in which we can learn from our experiences. Reflective practice can be defined as process of making sense of events, situations and actions that occur in the workplace (Oelofsen, 2012). There are a different models of reflection. One of them is Johns (1994) model of reflection, this model is based on five cue questions description, reflection, influencing factors, alternative strategies and learning. That enable practitioner to break down his/her experience. Gibbs (1988) is another common model of reflection which consists of six stages description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and action plan. The structure allows the reflection to be written in a clear way. In accordance with the NMC (2008) code of professional conduct, confidentiality should be maintain and all names will be anonymous.Ii this essay I will use Gibbs (1988) model as a guide for my reflection. The first stage of Gibbs (1988) model of ref lection requires a description of event. On the beginning of one of my shifts, my mentor informed me that I can participate in Multidisciplinary Team meeting. A Multidisciplinary Team meeting is a meeting of the group of professions from one or more clinical disciplines who together make decision regarding recommended treatment of individual patients (NHS 2012). I work on the ward on which these meetings are held every day.On that day the meeting was attended by medical doctors, deputy sister, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, discharge coordinator, social worker and community nurse. Order of the meeting was as follows at the outset a brief description of the patient was given by deputy sister. Then one of the doctors presented the patient current medical situation. At the end the other members of the team have time to take voice. They discussed medical and social situation of each individual patient. The team focused on planning and reviewing patients goals, they also made a joint decision about discharge plans and destinations.I was given the opportunity to observe multidisciplinary team members working together and participated in the discussion about patients whom I took care of. The second stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection is a discussion about my thoughts and feelings. My feelings at the time were mixed. I felt welcome and accepted within the MDT meeting. Many of the professionals who took part in the meeting,I knew from my daily work, and this made me feel comfortable. The MDT listened to my opinion and asked further questions. I always thought of myself as a confident person. However, when I stood and spoke in front of more qualified people then myself, my confidence vanished. I had no experience in speaking in front of large group and I was very nervous. For this reason my speech was not always consistent. In such a case, my mentor supported me and helped me by asking additional question that lead me to the right way. I found it very int eresting to see how MDT cooperate and communicate well with each other . I am going to enter the third stage of Gibbs (1988) model of reflection which is evaluation. There are many positive aspects of the MDT meeting. One of them is that the health professionals of different specialities are working as a team to achieve the same goals. The team members have different skills and knowledge. Their roles and responsibilities vary and are based on their professional experience. Thurgood et al. (2011) suggests that this skill mix is one of the most important benefits of working in MDT. Works in a team allows to collect informations from all its members which ensures that no important information about the patient will be ignored or missed.Another big advantage of these meetings is that they are carried out every day. According to Whyte et al. ((2007) the most frequently team members meet face to face and have the chance to discuss issues and work together, the better communication will be. However, if effective communication among the team is not achieved, errors may occur. It is the major disadvantages of the MDT. The National Patient Safety Agency (2007) communication difficulties identified as a main factor influencing patient outcomes.Stage four of Gibbs(1988) model is an analysis of the event. Communication is defined as a process that involves a meaningful exchange between at least two people to convey facts, needs, opinions, thoughts, feelings or other information through both verbal and non-verbal means, including face to face exchanges and the written word (DH 2010). For the MDT is important to effectively communicate with each other and overcome all communication barriers that may arise because poor communication among health professionals can negatively impact patient care.Atmosphere during the meeting was friendly and thank to this that all team members knew each other from daily meetings effective communication was easily achieved. However, there was a f ew problems. A noticeable issue was that medical abbreviation used by the doctor were not understood by others members of the team. This led to interruption of his speech to find out about their mining. This is mainly related to the fact that different health care workers have different training and education. Another factor who had significant influence on the MDT meeting and extended it was partially not updated handover from previous shift. The team had to correct the informations contained in it. In this case the handover missed its intended purpose because it was originally designed to transfer information concerning an individual patient with outstanding task from the outgoing to the incoming teams (Farhan et al. 2012). I think that I did well by participating in this meeting. As a student but also as a front line worker I could learn a lot from other professionals and I was able to inform the members of the team about the patients, whom I looked after, progress. This is importa nt because as a front line worker I interact more with patients during their hospital stay then any other health professional in the MDT ( Hamilton, Martin, 2007). As communication is a key building the relationship with others I need to conti nuously develop this knowledge. I also realized that speaking in front of large group of people is hard for me and this is the area which I have to improve. The final stage of Gibbs(1988) model of reflection is action plan.If I find myself in this type of situation again I would be more confident in discussing about the patients and their needs. Communication is a skill that can be learned and continually improver (Webb, 2011). For this purpose I created an action plan that will help me to improved my this skills and gain self-confidence. The first objective in my action plan is to meet my mentor in order to discuses the whole situation and obtain feedback. The next point is to research further the appropriate literature to gain new informations and develop my knowledge.I also want to attend a conflict resolution study day to learn how to resolve conflicts. Communication with others can be challenging (Webb, 2011) and conflicts may arise at any time, not only between team members bu t also between health professionals and patients or their families. Summarizing, reflection on this experience allowed me to identify gaps in my knowledge and establish my own learning needs. Gibbs (1988) model of reflection given me the chance to explore my thoughts and feelings, analyse the situation and draw conclusion for the future. This essay also enabled me to connect theory and practice.Reflective EssayA REFLECTIVE ESSAY This is a reflective essay based on a event which took place in a hospital setting. Poetry and Worldly Wealth Essay

Andrew Lang describes the truth nigh notes and what it meant to people in the 1800s and 1900s. He uses repetition to clearly apologize his ideas. Lang believes that coin could either be good or it could be evil, I guess it all depends in how you use it and appreciate it. The people in this poem are priests, soldiers, captains etc. The main idea is about how some and most people only do things for silver. The Ballad of Worldly Wealth, is a depiction of how money can bring pride and corruption into our society. The form of this poem is a ballad. A ballads contents include 3 stanzas, at least 8 lines in each stanza, and a cease (a repeated phrase at the end point of a poem) a refrain in typeface of the Ballad of Worldly Wealth is Youth, and health, and Paradise The author used artificial imagery to characterize money as both a staple in society, and as the icon of the worlds government agency and corruption. There is several rhetoric patterns found in the poem. The frost pattern i s an End rhyme. Poems with end rhyme are those whose last word of every line ends with a word that rhymes, for example While the tides shall diminish and (flow) gold maketh Evil (show) Flow and show are two separate words, however both halt rhyming sounds. Also displayed is parallel construction, a sentence, idea or clause that is presented with an opposing idea.In this statement, Money moves the merchants all, While the tides shall ebb and flow Money maketh Evil show, Like the Good, and Truth like lies it can be seen that the opposition is of that money is what makes the world go round. However money also creates greed, and makes the people see the money as a good thing, when really its all a lie.
